How To Install Debian in VMware Fusion 3


How to Install Debian 5 in VMware Fusion 3

1)  Download the debian-503-i386-CD-1.iso file.

2)  From the VMware Fusion toolbar, select File > New

3)  Click Continue without disc

4) Select Use operating system installation disc image file and then navigate to the debian iso file, then click Continue

5) Choose Linux as the Operating System and Debian 5 as the version, and then click Continue.

6)  Click Finish and then Save.

7)  Press Enter
8)  Choose Language and press Enter.
9)  Choose Country and press Enter.

10)  Choose Keyboard and press Enter.
11) Enter hostname and press Enter.

12) Enter Domain name and press Enter.
13)  Choose time zone and press Enter.

14)  Choose partitioning method and press Enter.

15)  Select disk to partition and press Enter.

16) Select partitioning scheme and press Enter.
17)  Press Enter.
18)  Change from No to Yes and Press Enter.

19)  Enter root password and press Enter.

20)  Confirm root password and Enter.

21) Enter name for the new user and press Enter.

22)  Enter username for your account and press Enter.
23)  Enter username password and Press Enter.
24)  Confirm username password and press Enter.
25)  Leave response as No for scanning another CD, and press Enter.
26)  Leave response as Yes for network mirror and press Enter.

27)  Select country for mirror and press Enter.

28)  Select FTP site for mirror and press Enter.

29)  Enter HTTP proxy if needed and press Enter.

30)  Leave response as No and Press Enter.

31)  Choose software to install and press Enter.

32)  Press Enter to install GRUB boot loader.

33)  Install is complete.  Press Enter.

34)  Debian will now boot.  You will now see the Welcome screen to enter username, then password after.

35)  Congratulations!  You now have the Debian desktop.
